1. The sensor will need to be powered on.
Insert 2 AAA batteries from your MySense box in the sensor with a fridge icon.
To insert the batteries, remove the backplate:
- Gently press down on the ridged thumb to remove the backplate.
- Pull the backplate of the sensor away from the front cover allowing access to the batteries. Ensure to align the batteries correctly with the polarity (+/–) markings.
- With the batteries properly in place, the sensor can be clipped back together.
2. Check if the sensor has power by pressing the small circle on the front of the sensor firmly. The LED above the button should flash red once.
3. Fit the sensor to the fridge door.
Find the easiest place the magnet can be positioned without it obstructing the fridge door. When a location has been identified, place the main sensor on the door and the magnet on the frame adjacent to it. Ensure the side of the sensor with the small triangle is closest to the magnet and they line up. The sensor and magnet work best at a distance about the same width as your little finger.
Where the fridge is an integrated kitchen unit, the door handle is a good place to attach the sensor and magnet. The magnet can often fit in the handle well, with the sensor adjacent to it.
Also, where the fridge and freezer doors open from the middle, the top of the door can be a good place to attach the sensor. The magnet can fit on the top of the door itself, with the sensor adjacent on the top of the main body of the fridge-freezer unit.
If you’re not sure the position is quite right, you can use blu-tac or masking tape to attach the sensor and magnet in a test location for a few days before attaching it with the sticky pad included.
4. Check the sensor activation.
With the sensor placed, you can test it by opening and closing the door. Check the activation appears in the activity graph in Events.
