How to install the MySense home hub

The MySense home hub uses either your home internet connection (wifi or ethernet cable to your router) or 4G (via the pre-installed SIM card) to communicate with the MySense platform.

If using your own internet connection, plug the MySense ethernet cable into the back of your home router.

If using 4G, please ensure there is as strong a 4G signal as possible.

A good way to check this seeing wherein the home has the best mobile phone signal, or by walking around the home to see if the signal “bars” drop on your phone anywhere. Things that can affect connectivity within the home are things like particularly dense walls, metal beams and longer distances through the home such as through several walls or floors.

Then you can plug it into the power outlet. The power cable should be connected at all times, and the power outlet switched "on".

There are 4 lights on the home hub used to communicate various bits of information:

  • When the home hub is first powered on, the circle LED will blink green every second.
  • Once the home hub is powered and online, the circle LED will be on in steady green.
  • If the home hub loses its 4G connection (i.e. due to connectivity issues) or internet connection the circle LED will be off.
  • Occasionally the home hub is automatically updated by MySense and when that is happening the circle LED will blink rapidly in red.

When a new or replacement sensor is being paired to the home hub the circle LED will blink rapidly in green.
